Syllabus plan/Content: |
With the Master´s thesis, students demonstrate both the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills and the acquired subject-specific and subject-independent competences by independently working on a scientific task. The Master´s thesis can be carried out in any subject area, which is underpinned by modules in the Master´s programme and, if possible, in cooperation with a practical company. The status of the work is discussed at regular intervals with the supervising university teacher within the framework of seminar consultations, if possible also with the involvement of the practice representative. |
Learning Outcomes: | |
Subject-specific skills and competences: | After successful completion of this module the students have: - transferred their knowledge to a complex and special application of the management systems and, using their existing specialist and methodological knowledge, independently and in a differentiated manner developed a solution for the defined topic. - acquired specialised knowledge from the topic area of the Master´s thesis and acquired factual knowledge from adjacent thematic areas. - applied the instruments of scientific work developed during the course of studies and prepared a systematic structure, a complete description, interpretation and presentation of the results of the research in written form for the topic to be worked on, with the necessary reduction of complexity. - critically discussing their research results with representatives of the practice or the supervising university lecturer and defending their results with the help of their expertise. |
Generic competences (Personal and key skills): | After completing this module, students will be able to - to recognize essential information, to process it in a structured way and to develop results independently. - to develop solutions for complex and novel problems based on theoretical principles and by means of their own initiative and creativity and to implement them. - to recognize signs of conflict and to actively participate in the conflict resolution process. - to extract knowledge from different areas and to combine or apply it in an appropriate way. - to integrate into a team, but also to take responsibility. - to discuss the results of their work with both experts and laymen and to present them successfully to a client or other stakeholders using appropriate presentation techniques. - to work scientifically on a complex topic. - with commitment, initiative and self-management as well as scientific and practical independence, to develop and organize knowledge themselves and to formulate and present it scientifically in accordance with the object of investigation. - to cooperate with different partners inside and outside the university in order to solve problems. - to critically question one´s own approaches to solving problems, taking into account relevant influencing factors. |
Pre-requisites: | Successful completion of all exams of the Master´s programme with the exception of those required in this module. Proof of the specialist knowledge required to work on the respective topic. |
